ON THIS DAY… 25 SEP 1967

‘TEN LITTLE INDIANS’ WAS RECORDED

On this day, The Yardbirds recorded ‘Ten Little Indians’ at the Olympic Number Two Studio in London. It was on this session that I asked the engineer to try something new, by flipping the tape (so it played in reverse), isolating the brass track and applying and recording echo to the reverse signal of the brass. When the tape was flipped back and played, the echo was now in reverse and proceeded the brass. It was a cool effect. It was the first time this technique was employed, I used it again on the first Led Zeppelin album during ‘You Shook Me’ and on a number of Zep tracks to follow.
